1.Review your shop setup
An authorized owner can open Settings → Payments & tax, review Stripe's reported registrations, choose the appropriate product/service category and pricing behavior, and save the automatic-tax setting.
2.Check each order
Inspect Payments & tax on the order. Do not assume an older order or an imported order uses today's shop settings. Review its tax configuration before requesting payment.
3.Inspect actual payment history
Payment records show subtotal, tax, total, and payment source. For Stripe payments, use the recorded tax amount; for cash and other outside methods, record the actual amount collected separately.
4.Choose a reporting period
Open the tax report from Payments & tax. Use the available reporting-period/date controls for the period you need. Check the dates and included payment records before exporting or using totals.
5.Keep exemption evidence
Use Customers & certificates to request and review documents. An accepted certificate does not automatically change order taxes: review and apply the exemption on each relevant order.
